Chairman's News & View's
What’s this page for, I hear you ask?
Why is it blank? - not any more
I never knew the chairman had any news let alone any views
Who the h—l is the chairman anyway.
If this is you then I would advise you to move on to the next page and avoid the boring rabbitings of some old git.
Still with me.
Good, well (this is the boring bit) some time ago I suggested to H that it may be an idea to have a sort of news letter section on the web site.(what’s that you say “should have kept your big gob shut”.
The format for this would be similar to the one I produced, in the days gone by, when the club first started, and what was loosely termed, a monthly news letter. This contained not only club related items but also any news/items regarding Land Rovers, Green lanes as well as changes in legislation, that may effect club members.
There was a section to welcome (God love them) new members and a small (I mean small) section devoted to Births, the other one (we don’t mention its name) and marriages (there may still be a fool out there). Also mentioned were future events (with the correct date’s you sceptics).
However ;-
The main body of the letter was devoted to a story, report, some even called it a skit (some people are hard to please), on the clubs last outing. It has words and for those who can’t be a---d reading, Pictures.
Well, that’s the boring part over, you may disagree.
So that’s the proposed format of your future “News Letter’s”. All I have to do now is to think what to write every few weeks, so I can keep your interest up. But just for now though ;-
New Members
On behalf of myself and all club members, I would like to welcome the following new members to the club ;-
James Utley and Russel Morris
Both of whom joined us on the 3rd August 2009.
Next Club Event
Our next event is to Haigh Steam Rally. Which is one of those dreaded Steam Rally’s for which the club used to be famous, (try and take the p—s out of us now) but most find it’s just a relaxing weekend, with lots to see and do. It also has a great beer tent for those who feel so inclined and those lads who like to play war games put a great show on for Sunday. Just keep your fingers crossed that the dreaded rain stays away, as the site can soon turn into a muddy swamp, great for Landies but not for classic cars. A few years ago we spent most of the weekend towing cars on and off the field, the club had a great time but I think no one else did. So if it does rain and the event is cancelled I will arrange an alternative venue. Hope to see you all there.
WoodVale Rally or how to win a top First Place
By now most of you know that the Club was awarded first place in the club category. I mean that’s top place for the best club stand, does that mean we are just the best club out of 71 clubs attending. Do you think I’m going a little over the top, blowing our own trumpet, so what, I’m proud of you lads, you really pulled all the stops out and your efforts paid off this time. Please accept my sincere thanks and gratitude to those members came up with the ideas, who supplied the trees, supplied the muscle and all who trusted us to raise their Landies to ridiculous angles. It was a great weekend with a cracking outcome. Thanks again to everyone who attended.
I would also like to thank publicly Alisdair Couper for trusting us with his rebuilt 6 wheel Range Rover and Terry / Gary Fielding for the loan of their 2 Series one’s and that beast of a V8 110.
Just to finish on a sour note, you all realise what this means – this year you raised the bar so high that no other club could match us, but what about next year. Certain other clubs may pinch our your idea and copy, that means we (you) will be expected to raise the bar even higher.( did I hear you say F—K O--), only joking I know you can do it – can’t you?.
Well that’s all for now (who said “THANK GOD HE’S SHUT UP”). I hate to disappoint you but the next edition will be posted after the next event and that one will have pictures, so look out there’s an old git about with a camera ......clic..........clic........clic.
